Forsaken World: Exclusive interview

Today we’re pleased to offer you our exclusive interview with Jon Belliss, Director of Marketing for Perfect World Entertainment, Inc. about their upcoming free2play MMORPG masterpiece Forsaken World.

MMORPGMANIA:
Can you please introduce Forsaken World to anyone who had no time to deepen the game lore and background?

Jon:
Forsaken World is Perfect World Entertainment’s first fantasy MMO built from the ground up with the western audience in mind. Players will find themselves in the aftermath of a war between gods, which leaves the land of Eyrda godless. With the return of Dysil, an evil giant dragon bent on enslaving the denizens of Eyrda, players will need to unite together to drive back the forces of evil once and for all.

MMORPGMANIA:
Which are the most interesting features in Forsaken World able to attract players?

Jon:
One of the most interesting and requested features in Forsaken World is the floating guild bases. Guilds will have the ability to bid on these bases as well as add to them over time, bringing new NPCs, missions, equipment and gear for members.

MMORPGMANIA:
Forsaken World is under closed beta testing and players are pointing feedbacks, questions and possible solutions. At this point how do you see the game future? Are you happy about your community and their support?

Jon:
We’ve been very excited about the amount of support that we’ve received from our closed beta community as well as their feedback. We are in the final stages of polishing up the game and Forsaken World will be launching for North America and Europe on March, 23.

MMORPGMANIA:
Once your character get over 40+ level there are no ways to auto-team for the low level instances like Fort Routur or even Tomb of Glory. Is there a way to auto-team for lower level instances in order to complete older quests?

Jon:
You won’t be able to auto-queue for low level dungeons as a high level, but you’ll be able to get groups easily enough by watching world chat for people looking for parties, or even hanging out at the entrance of the dungeon for people looking to enter.

MMORPGMANIA:
Which is the maximum level for crafting professions? There will be a level cap for each profession or will be there a different level cap depending on the type?

Jon:
Most of the crafting professions have different level caps. You can expect these caps to change around as new content is added to the game.

MMORPGMANIA:
Will be there a fix about the drop rate for the Artisan materials? Players are experiencing a hard time crafting due to materials low drop rate.

Jon:
Player feedback on things like this is definitely taken into account when future changes and tweaks are discussed with the developers. If something is too difficult for players to truly enjoy, then it will definitely be looked into.

MMORPGMANIA:
How the cash shop interact with the crafting system? Are there any items that can be crafted only with the help of a cash shop item/tool/raw materials?

Jon:
No, nothing in the crafting system requires a cash shop item to create.

MMORPGMANIA:
Are you planning to change the items bought from cash shop from bound to player to non bound? Cash shop is one of the most discussed topic and recently I’ve seen some players upset due to the fact that they are demotivated to buy, for example, a new mount because if another mount comes out the older mount cannot be sold or exchanged, meaning it will be thrown away and the same story goes for the fashion items.

Jon:
We are constantly tweaking the cash shop and we’re definitely taking note of feedback from players regarding the bound versus non-bound cash shop items. While most items do not bind to characters, we are open to making changes to the cash shop down the road.

MMORPGMANIA:
Can you explain how the God System works? And how can a player gain achievements?

Jon:
We’re still working on the god system and the biggest challenge for us is balancing. We want the god system to be more than just a status symbol, but at the same time, we don’t want players abusing their powers and griefing other players with it.

MMORPGMANIA:
Many players have experienced a long queue trying to enter a realm.

Jon:
Yes, this is something that we’ve been looking to correct on the backend and this shouldn’t be an issue come launch.

MMORPGMANIA:
Are you planning to add new servers or adding them more slots?

Jon:
Yes, come launch, we plan to have a total of 6 servers dedicated to serving North America and Europe.

MMORPGMANIA:
Are you planning to introduce an update to the pvp system which allow players to gain experience while killing enemy characters?

Jon:
Currently the PvP systems we have in place rewards players with items, however depending on what players want, we are open to tweaking the system in future updates or expansions. We are constantly listening to player feedback and one feature that we’ve added as a result of feedback is the auction house, which will be available at launch.

MMORPGMANIA:
A little sneak peek on the next updates/events?

Jon:
We’re definitely looking forward to the launch and the best place for Forsaken World players to find out about upcoming updates and events would be to frequently check out the official Forsaken World website at http://fw.perfectworld.com/.
